Once our Money Maker (MM) has selected the same product to promote as everybody else he then chooses the same keywords as everybody else to bid on at Google. He will type those words into the Keyword tool at Overture or into Adwords Analyzer. Then he will have a big list of the same keywords as everybody else promoting that product.

Do you think there might be a little competition for these keywords? You think those words might be expensive to bid on? You betcha.

What we need to do is think a little differently whatever market we choose there will be competition and if there is no competition it probably means that nobody is spending in this market. We need to think ‘outside of the box’. We need to get inside the minds of the typical buyer of a product. We need to think what related problems they may be having what other things they will be searching for and we need to create our own keyword list.

Finally MM writes one ad, that will show for all his keywords. His ad describes the features of the product. We on the other hand will write an ad highlighting the benefits of the product. All those eyeballs will be attracted to our ‘sizzle, not the sausage’. We will include a call to action.

We will have multiple ad groups separated out into themes, our ads will be relevant to the keywords in the group and we will have two ads for each group so we can see what works and what doesn’t. We will test, test & test some more.

Our success will be found on the road less travelled.

There is still plenty of room in the Adwords pool as long as we are prepared to think for ourselves and not expect a free ride.

Dalam wawancara berseri mengenai “Prediksi Bisnis Internet Indonesia 2008” ini saya memang sengaja ingin mengangkat opini para pakar bisnis internet lokal yang berdiri di segmen yang berbeda-beda. Seperti halnya wawancara dengan ~~mas~~ Pitra Satvika (yang tidak mau dipanggil dengan embel-embel mas, hehehe) berikut ini. Ia saya pilih karena, selain sudah mengalahkan blog ini di pemilihan blog terbaik kategori Online Marketing and Sales pada ajang Pesta Blogger, juga karena rajin mengamati perkembangan dunia periklanan dan gejolak Web 2.0 di Indonesia. Oleh karen itu, pendapat ~~mas~~ Pitra mengenai bisnis internet Indonesia di tahun 2008 tentu lah menarik untuk diikuti. Siap?

Bagian berikut ini sama persis dengan jawaban yang diberikan oleh narasumber, tanpa ada bagian yang diubah / dimodifikasi, kecuali penambahan tautan (jika ada), koreksi typo, dan format tulisan (cetak tebal, miring, dll).

Bagaimana pendapatnya tentang perkembangan bisnis internet Indonesia di tahun 2007 barusan?

Tahun 2007 kemarin mulai tumbuh lagi dotcom baru. Pendekatannya sekarang lebih ke basis komunitas. Bahkan brand yang melakukan kampanye online pun selalu mereferensikan website komunitas seperti Friendster sebagai salah satu modelnya (terlepas dari apakah mereka berhasil/tidak berhasil ya dalam membangun website komunitas). Yang justru terlihat berhasil malah website yang dibangun oleh anak muda sendiri, seperti LiveConnector.com, Indo-Friendster.com, atau Fupei.com. Yang juga menarik adalah perkembangan website yang sudah Web 2.0, seperti MoodMill dan WikiMu, dimana website hanya menjadi sarana aktivitas anggotanya. Website tidak lagi hanya sebagai penyedia konten. Biarkan anggota yang menciptakan konten dari aplikasi yang sudah disiapkan oleh website.

Apakah di tahun 2008 nanti kondisi tersebut akan bertahan atau mengalami perubahan?

Tahun 2008 pasti akan mengalami peningkatan. Semakin banyak yang akan mencoba membuat mashup sebagai bagian dari website. Integrasi dengan feed dari YouTube, Flickr, Amazon, LastFM, GoogleMaps, dll akan semakin terlihat. Semuanya disesuaikan dengan tema dan kebutuhan website. Cara brand berkampanye bisa jadi akan juga berubah. Kalau tahun 2007, orang diajak untuk masuk ke microsite (website berusia pendek yang dibuat khusus untuk kampanye) supaya bisa berinteraksi dengan brand, maka kalau tahun 2008, orang akan berinteraksi dengan brand langsung dari blog/website yang biasa dikunjunginya, tanpa orang itu harus berkunjung ke microsite.

Dengan semakin banyak masyarakat yang melek akan potensi bisnis online, apakah ini akan membawa perubahan dalam kondisi bisnis offline di Indonesia?

Online dan offline nggak akan bisa dipisahkan, sepanjang barang yang dijual masih berupa fisik. Online hanya untuk membantu mempercepat pemasaran saja. Tapi tetap saja, kalau nggak ada barang yang dijual, online nggak ada gunanya. Kecuali, kalau memang barang yang dijual di online ini berupa konten atau software, atau menjadi affiliate atau reseller dari produk orang lain.

Peran pemerintah dalam membantu pengembangan bisnis internet hingga sekarang terasa masih kurang. Bagaimana dengan tahun 2008 nanti?

Pertanyaannya, apa sih yang kita butuhkan sekarang dari Pemerintah? Pemerintah hanya memberikan regulasi saja, pelaksananya ya dari kita-kita juga. Kalau berharap di tahun 2008 ini seluruh masyarakat Indonesia ini punya akses internet cepat masih mimpi nggak ya? Tapi yang jelas, minimal Depdiknas sudah membangun Jardiknas yang mulai menghubungkan ribuan sekolah di Indonesia, mulai dari Pulau Jawa. Btw, kalau Jardiknas ini bukan mimpi loh, ini memang sudah mulai diwujukan oleh Depdiknas.

Bagi individu / personal, bagaimana prospek “make money from blog”di tahun 2008?

Kalau hanya mengandalkan AdSense, AdBrite atau sebangsanya untuk mendapatkan revenue dari blog kayaknya kok kecil ya. Tapi menurut saya, nggak semua revenue dari blog itu bersifat langsung seperi iklan. Bisa jadi, blog hanya sebagai bagian dari upaya blogger menjual kemampuan dirinya. Kalau si blogger rajin menjual kemampuan dirinya kesana kemari, bukan nggak mungkin dia dapat peluang revenue yang lebih besar dari kemampuannya ini. Hehe, kalau untuk contoh ini sih saya sudah cukup banyak mendapat rejekinya. Jauh lebih besar daripada cuma mengandalkan iklan teks kontekstual.

Apa yang kira-kira akan menjadi andalan bagi blogger di tahun 2008? Apa akan masih tetap mengidolakan Google AdSense?

Kalau individu, mau bilang AdSense dan sebangsanya tapi kok nggak yakin juga ya, melihat semakin kecilnya jatah kue iklan yang bisa diambil. Tapi belum ada alternatif lain yang mudah dan tidak mengganggu kenyamanan blogging sih. Kecuali kalau mau mencoba mengerjakan afiliasi dan reseller, meski ini artinya harus punya website terpisah, karena nggak bisa dilakukan sambil blogging.

Bagaimana dengan bisnis affiliasi dan “wirausaha” online (berjualan produk sendiri)? Mana yang akan lebih berkembang di tahun 2008?

Kalau hal yang satu ini saya juga belum pernah coba. Jadi nggak bisa comment apa-apa. Mungkin Mama Lauren bisa membantu?

Program PPC lokal mulai bermunculan, seperti Affiliates Indonesia, KumpulBlogger, dll. Bagaimana pendapatnya tentang ini? Bagaimana prospek mereka di tahun 2008?

PPC versi lokal bisa sukses bisa juga nggak, tergantung mau ditargetkan ke pasar yang mana nih? Kalau targetnya untuk yang budgetnya terbatas, bisa jadi mereka tertarik. Tapi kalau untuk brand besar, hitungan PPC terlalu membingungkan. Mereka lebih terbiasa hitungan placement per periode (mis: bulanan). Sekarang, bagaimana caranya PPC versi lokal ini bisa diadaptasi sesuai kebutuhan pasar di Indonesia.

Apa harapan bagi dunia bisnis internet Indonesia di tahun 2008? Ada pesan-pesan khusus bagi pebisnis internet Indonesia?

Harapannya ya tambah maju. Kalau nggak maju dan bertambah menguntungkan, saya nggak akan kerja di bidang ini. Hehe.. Pesan saya cuma apa pun bisnis Anda tetaplah Anda lakukan dengan jujur (atau sejujur mungkin..hehe..). Jangan bermain scam, atau lihat apa yang terjadi kalau seluruh isi bumi kena scam para alien di DVD movie Futurama (nggak ada hubungannya, tapi filmnya lucu abis).

Ada dua bagian yang mungkin dapat saya garisbawahi dari hasil wawancara di atas. Yang pertama, blog dapat digunakan sebagai sarana “jual diri” (baik yang berarti positif maupun negatif, hehehe). Dan yang kedua, PPC lokal harus dapat beradaptasi dengan iklim periklanan di Indonesia apabila ingin maju. Saya rasa yang kedua ini penting sekali karena saya juga ingin melihat PPC lokal maju terus pantang mundur dan mampu bersaing dengan PPC internasional.

Tapi ngomong-ngomong kok gak pernah ada pemilik PPC yang ngajakin saya joint-venture sebagai endorser ya?

Membuat Dummy Blog Untuk Mendapatkan Account AdSense

Memiliki situs web adalah syarat utama yg harus terpenuhi apabila ingin mendaftarkan diri sebagai publisher Google AdSense. Situs web ini pun tidak sembarangan, harus memenuhi berbagai ketentuan yg telah ditetapkan oleh pihak Google. Dan salah satunya yg seringkali menjadi penghalang untuk dapat bergabung dengan Google AdSense adalah tidak diperbolehkannya penggunaan bahasa Indonesia di dalam situs web yg diajukan ke dalam aplikasi pendaftaran. Manfaatkan fasilitas pencarian untuk menemukan setidaknya 10 artikel yg berhubungan dengan judul dan nama subdomain blog yg telah dibuat. Copy-paste artikel2 tersebut masing2 ke dalam satu entri blog sehingga nantinya blog Anda akan terisi setidaknya 10 artikel.

Blog dummy sekarang telah siap untuk didaftarkan ke Google AdSense. Anda bisa melakukannya melalui Blogspot atau dengan meng-klik banner iklan yg ada di bagian akhir artikel ini.

Pihak Google akan memberikan jawaban atas aplikasi pendaftaran dalam jangka waktu paling cepat 2×24 jam. Sembari menunggu, Anda bisa terus menambahkan artikel ke dalam blog dummy tersebut (langkah 5 dan 6).

Prediksi Bisnis Internet 2008

Sebetulnya saya ingin menuliskan tentang keputusan saya untuk beralih dari Google AdSense dalam sebuah artikel tersendiri, namun saya batalkan karena sebagian besar materinya juga sudah ada yang “membocorkan” di sini, hehehe. Jadinya saya putuskan untuk menggabungkannya dengan tulisan ini saja, “Prediksi Bisnis Internet 2008″. Bidang bisnis internet mana yang sebaiknya digeluti? Atau sebaliknya, mana yang harus mulai ditinggalkan? Semua ada gambarannya di artikel ini. Tapi ingat, seluruhnya murni ramalan versi saya sendiri, tanpa dipengaruhi oleh pihak-pihak manapun. Jadi jika nantinya meleset, ya dimaklumi saja, kan saya bukan Mama Laurent, hehehe.

Google AdSense

Rasanya paling pantas kalau yang dibahas perdana adalah mengenai Google AdSense, toh pada awalnya blog ini memang berfokus pada program itu saja.

Nah, jika Anda adalah seorang publisher AdSense dan terus mengikuti dan menjalani sendiri perkembangan Google AdSense sepanjang tahun 2007 ini, rasanya Anda pasti akan sepaham apabila saya katakan bahwa telah terjadi banyak metamorfosis. Sayangnya bukan ke arah kebaikan, melainkan ke arah yang semakin menyudutkan kita sebagai publisher.

Meskipun fitur demi fitur baru bergantian bergulir, namun itu hanya dari sisi backend saja. Pada pelaksanaan di lapangan, semakin lama semakin nyata bahwa Google lebih mengutamakan pemasang iklan AdWords dan kegemukan dompet mereka sendiri dibandingkan kesejahteraan publisher.

Yang salah? Entahlah. Tapi yang jelas, anggota tim Google AdSense saat ini semakin mudah dalam menjatuhkan talak tiga. Bahkan kadang terkesan sengaja mencari-cari alasan untuk melakukan banned, baik banned akun maupun banned situs atau domain. Yang lebih lucu lagi, sekarang antar staff tim tidak lagi ada koordinasi dan masing-masing seolah bekerja sendiri sambil berlomba menjegal publisher. Bukankah hal yang tidak wajar apabila oleh si A kita dinyatakan tidak melanggar TOS namun oleh si B kita dituduh melakukan pelanggaran?

Mungkin ada yang berpikir, saya menulis seperti ini karena saya sudah dibanned atau penghasilan saya menurun jauh. Sama sekali tidak! Akun saya masih baik-baik saja dan earning saya baik-baik saja. Yang saya sebutkan adalah fakta sesuai dengan yang saya alami dan saya rasakan sepanjang tahun 2007, ditambah dengan pengalaman teman-teman yang lain yang curhat kepada saya.

Kesimpulannya, Google AdSense is NOT the future. Tidak, Google AdSense tidak akan mati. Toh nyawa perusahaan Google ada di sana. Namun bagi publisher, perjuangan untuk bertahan hidup di belantara AdSense akan semakin berat.

Tentu saja keadaan ini bisa berubah. Kuncinya ada pada tahun 2008 ini. Apabila pemasang iklan semakin diangkat dan publisher semakin ditekan, ya sudah, tamat. Apabila staff Google AdSense semakin tidak jelas kinerjanya, ya sudah, tamat.

Nah, jika Anda sedang dalam rangka meniti karir di jalur Google AdSense, USAHAKAN SECEPATNYA. Jika selama ini masih lihat-lihat keadaan dan bahkan belum mendaftar ke AdSense, MULAI SECEPATNYA. Jika sudah mapan di AdSense, SELINGKUH SECEPATNYA.

Domain Parking

Bisnis tukang parkir memang fenomenal. Meskipun bukan bisnis baru, namun geliatnya di Indonesia dimulai sejak sekitar kuartal 2 tahun 2007. Satu demi satu, dengan sistem kerjanya yang relatif mudah, pemain-pemain dompark sukses bermunculan. Penghasilan puluhan juta per bulan pun menjadi hal yang biasa bagi mereka.

Di tahun 2008 ini, bisnis domain parking di Indonesia akan terus berjaya dan saya rasa akan mencapai puncaknya pada sekitar kuartal 2 dan 3. Meskipun sekarang belum, namun prediksi saya, tekanan kepada pihak PPC atas iklan-iklan ke situs parkiran semakin lama akan semakin besar, dan pada titik tertentu akan memaksa mereka untuk melarang dengan tegas situs-situs jenis tersebut.

Yang jelas, para tukang parkir masih punya banyak waktu untuk berpesta dolar :)

PTR/PTC

Dunia PTR/PTC saya rasa tidak akan mengalami banyak perubahan. Datang dan pergi silih berganti. Namun asalkan kita jeli dalam memilih program dan berani berspekulasi (baca: berinvestasi) di program tersebut, maka jalan sukses di bidang ini dapat dicapai. Dan bukan receh! :)

Affiliate

Affiliate adalah salah satu bidang bisnis internet yang tidak akan pernah mati, bahkan akan semakin kuat dari waktu ke waktu. Demikian pula di tahun 2008. Bahkan jika Anda ingat, Google AdSense pun sudah merambah ke iklan berjenis affiliate. Ini wajar karena bagi advertiser, khususnya pemilik produk, promosi dengan sistem affiliate merupakan metode yang paling efektif dan menguntungkan.

Jadi jika Anda masih alergi dengan bisnis affiliate, saya sarankan untuk lekas-lekas berobat, hehehe.

Internal Ads Network dan Self Product

Bagi saya, di dua elemen inilah sebenarnya kunci dari kesuksesan bisnis internet di masa mendatang. Kita harus bisa melepaskan diri dari belenggu jaringan iklan luar dan lebih mengembangkan potensi jaringan iklan di dalam situs-situs kita. Menariknya, di kuartal 4 2007 lalu, geliat ke arah sana sudah mulai terasa. Apa mungkin terinspirasi oleh keputusan saya untuk menerima iklan di blog ini? *ge-er*

Jangan lupa, saat Anda menjadi publisher AdSense, Adbrite, domain parking, affiliate, dan sebagainya, secara tidak langsung Anda adalah bawahan mereka. Kelangsungan hidup Anda berada di tangan mereka, bukan di tangan Anda sendiri. Jadi sebenarnya, sesukses apapun Anda, selama masih berstatus sebagai publisher, kelangsungan bisnis internet Anda sebenarnya ada di ujung daun lontar.

Bagaimana dengan self product? Untuk yang satu ini sepertinya masih jarang dilirik oleh pebisnis internet. Kalau pun ada, buntut-buntutnya kualitas produknya patut dipertanyakan. E-book yang isinya sekedar copas sana-sini lah, script yang ternyata modifikasi dari versi nulled script lain lah, dan lain sebagainya. Padahal di tengah gencarnya produk dari luar dan masih banyaknya peminat bisnis internet yang kurang mengetahui ilmunya, pasar untuk produk-produk lokal masih terbuka lebar.

Salah satu contoh nyata adalah Anne Ahira dengan Asian Brain-nya. Di luar pro dan kontra yang terjadi, harus diakui bahwa pada faktanya “produk” tersebut laku keras di pasaran. Selain itu ada pula JogjaCamp dengan produk-produk scriptnya, MarketBiz dengan produk-produk seminarnya, IMR-Surabaya dengan produk-produk kursusnya, dan masih banyak lagi. Apapun bentuknya, semua itu adalah bukti bahwa potensi menjajakan self product di dunia bisnis internet amat sangat menggembirakan.

Bahkan pada saat Anda tidak punya produk untuk dijual sekalipun, Anda juga bisa bekerjasama untuk menjual produk milik orang lain. Memang masih mirip dengan affliate, tapi setidaknya rantai belenggunya tidak terlalu erat.

Kesimpulannya:

Lakukan diversifikasi bisnis. Jangan tergantung pada satu lini saja.

Sepanjang tahun 2008, arahkan jalan Anda ke wirausaha bisnis internet dengan menjual jaringan iklan dan produk milik Anda sendiri. Setidaknya, buatlah pondasinya terlebih dahulu untuk persiapan di tahun-tahun mendatang.

Yang terutama, apabila tahun 2007 Anda masih banyak “bengong”, di tahun 2008 ini saatnya untuk action! Pemain akan makin banyak, persaingan akan makin ketat, mau tunggu apa lagi?

Atau mungkin dana komisinya sudah habis dipakai jalan-jalan liburan akhir tahun kemarin?

Entahlah. Tapi di sisi lain, bisa jadi ini merupakan efek dari banyaknya orang-orang serakah yang menghalalkan segala cara demi mendapatkan bonus referral tersebut. Misalnya dengan membuat e-book atau kursus yang materinya tidak dapat dipertanggungjawabkan. Modus utamanya, (1) menggiring orang untuk mendaftar ke Google AdSense melalui link referralnya; (2) memberikan cara cepat untuk mendapatkan $100; dan (3) berharap orang tersebut tidak dibanned sehingga ia mendapatkan komisi referral untuk orang tersebut.

Hmmm, jadi ingat. Tanggal 11 besok di AJBS ada seminar “Cara mendapatkan uang dari Google” atau semacam itulah. Yang menyelenggarakan EastJava.com. Yang di Surabaya, dateng yuk. Nanti kalau seminarnya ngajarin cara-cara gak bener, kita hujat ramai-ramai di blog, hihihi.

Cek Whois EastJava.Com, eh ternyata yang punya (atau setidaknya yang mendaftarkan domain tersebut) tempat tinggalnya deket rumahnya bos Rony. Jangan-jangan juragan parkir itu yang nyelenggarain seminar, hehehe.

Anyway, kembali ke topik, penghilangan referral AdSense ini dikatakan akan berlaku “secepatnya”, namun sepertinya akan diimplementasikan pada akhir bulan Januari ini dalam bentuk penghapusan pilihan Google AdSense pada bagian Referrals yang ada di AdSense Setup area akun AdSense Anda. Perubahan ini tidak mempengaruhi produk-produk referral yang lain seperti Firefox, Google Pack, dan lain sebagainya.

Sebagai catatan, publisher yang berdomisili di Amerika Utara, Amerika Latin, dan Jepang masih dapat mempromosikan referral link AdSense mereka, namun dengan “sedikit” penyesuaian terhadap komisi yang diperoleh.

Pada screenshot di bawah, terlihat bahwa sejak menggunakan trik tersebut (minggu terakhir bulan Juli), penghasilan terus meningkat dan pada bulan Agustus lalu mencapai lebih dari 3x lipat bulan Juni. More Ads = More Money (in AdBrite)

Jika di Google AdSense istilah banyak anak (baca: ad units) banyak rejeki (baca: earning) tidak berlaku, tidak demikian halnya dengan AdBrite. Semakin banyak zona iklan yang Anda pajang dalam satu situs, semakin besar pula $$$ yang dapat dikeruk. Alasannya adalah karena sebagian besar iklan di AdBrite berbasis impresi, sehingga penghasilan akan terus mengalir selama situs kita mendapatkan kunjungan.

Nah menariknya, apabila di Google AdSense impresi berlaku global untuk semua unit iklan yang terpasang dalam satu halaman (maksudnya, meskipun dalam satu halaman ada 3 ad units, satu kali kunjungan hanya akan dihitung satu impresi saja), dalam AdBrite impresi masing-masing zona iklan diperhitungkan. Sehingga apabila dalam satu halaman kita memasang tiga zona iklan dan halaman tersebut dikunjungi oleh 10 pengunjung, maka jumlah impresi kita adalah 30 (3 x 10).

Sebagai contoh, saya pernah menyebutkan bahwa penghasilan AdBrite saya hanyalah sebesar $1 - $1.2 per hari. Sejak kemarin saya mulai menambahkan 1 zona iklan AdBrite di salah satu situs yang memiliki trafik tinggi dan earning AdBrite langsung melonjak menjadi 2x lipatnya. Ini tidak terpengaruh dengan jumlah klik karena jumlah kliknya sendiri tetap. Tetap minimalis maksudnya, hehehe.

Bisakah AdBrite disandingkan dengan program-program pendongkrak trafik seperti auto-surf, traffic exchange, dan sejenisnya? Entah, saya belum mencoba. Yang jelas AdBrite sendiri tidak ketat dalam menegakkan TOS mereka. Jika ada yang sudah pernah mencobanya, bagi pengalamannya yah? :)

Akhirnya cita-cita saya untuk mendapatkan cek tiap bulan dari AdBrite bisa segera terpenuhi :)

Sudah bukan rahasia lagi bahwa video-video yang bertebaran di YouTube, Google Video, maupun situs-situs sejenis, dapat kita manfaatkan sebagai umpan penarik dolar. Dengan berbekal kemampuan copy-paste dan sedikit review, kita sudah bisa membuat sebuah video blog yang tidak akan pernah kehabisan bahan untuk update. Namun cara yang akan saya tunjukkan berikut ini sedikit berbeda karena kita akan menambah satu lagi titik sumber penghasilan kita, yaitu dari fitur InVideo milik AdBrite.

Mengenal InVideo

InVideo adalah salah satu fitur inovatif milik AdBrite yang memasukkan iklan ke dalam suatu video atau movie. Iklan akan muncul berupa text di bagian header film dan sudah bisa ditebak, apabila diklik akan menghasilkan $$$ bagi publisher AdBrite. Kita dapat menentukan sendiri keyword dari iklan yang ingin kita munculkan, sehingga dapat lebih berfokus pada topik situs kita.

Yang menarik, kita bahkan dapat menambahkan watermark secara otomatis kepada video tersebut. Tapi jangan sampai kelewatan me-watermark-kan video-video milik orang lain kalau tidak mau dikenai tuntutan undang-undang DMCA :)

Mengawinkan InVideo Dengan YouTube

Berikut ini langkah-langkahnya:

Masuk ke situs YouTube dan pilih salah satu video. Simpan (copy) alamat URL dari halaman video tersebut (format: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kode).

Buka situs VideoGrabbers dan masukkan (paste) alamat URL dari video yang ada di YouTube sebelumnya. Pastikan YouTube.com terpilih pada dropdown menu. Tekan tombol Download.
Pada halaman berikutnya, tekan klik kanan mouse pada tombol Download dan kopi URL tujuannya (pada Firefox: right click - copy link location).

Masuk ke dalam control panel AdBrite Anda dan klik pada menu InVideo. Klik Add Video. Masukkan data-data sesuai yang diminta dan pada bagian URL of .flv file, paste-kan URL video yang berasal dari situs VideoGrabbers. Tekan tombol Save and Get Code jika sudah. Kode InVideo akan di-generate dan Anda dapat meletakkannya pada situs atau blog Anda.

Berhubung nulisnya sambil nyambi maen Tales of the Abyss, jadi kali ini to-the-point aja :)

Berikut ini beberapa tips untuk sukses ‘menghipnotis’ advertiser di BlogAds:

Gunakan kalimat yg ‘menjual’ pada deskripsi adstrips Anda

Berbeda dengan pemasang iklan di AdWords, para calon advertiser di BlogAds biasanya mengamati terlebih dahulu situs Anda dan ‘penawaran’ yg Anda berikan pada deskripsi adstrips. Dua bagian inilah yg sebenarnya merupakan kunci pokok keberhasilan Anda di BlogAds. Jadi, seperti tehnik pemasaran pada umumnya, gunakan kalimat2 yg menunjukkan kekuatan dan kelebihan situs Anda pada adstrips. Tunjukkan pula kelebihan2 yg bisa didapatkan oleh pemasang iklan apabila mereka memutuskan untuk membeli kapling di adstrips Anda tersebut.

Cara yg paling gampang adalah dengan menyertakan statistik situs Anda, baik berupa unique visitors, page impressions, maupun perkiraan CPM.

Hindari over-promotion

Mungkin istilahnya kurang tepat (ada yg bisa koreksi?), tapi intinya, over-promotion yg dimaksud di sini adalah memberikan penawaran atau janji2 yg sebenarnya sulit atau tidak mungkin bisa terpenuhi. Ini terkait dengan poin 1 di atas. Misalnya saja, di adstrips Anda menuliskan bahwa pengunjung unik situs Anda adalah 10,000 orang. Padahal pada kenyataannya yg datang hanyalah 1,000 orang. Hal ini tentunya bisa membuat pemasang iklan kecewa dan enggan membeli spot adstrips di tempat Anda untuk kedua kalinya. Jangan salah, advertiser2 BlogAds biasanya setia loh, minimal mereka, jika puas, akan memasang iklan di adstrips yg sama selama dua kali berturut2.

Nah, daripada memberikan promosi yg berlebihan, justru lebih baik bila Anda ’sedikit merendah’ dalam mempromosikan situs Anda. Efeknya akan dashyat karena advertiser akan merasa mendapatkan nilai lebih yg tidak dicantumkan pada deskripsi adstrips. Contohnya adalah dengan hanya menuliskan 75% - 80% dari jumlah pengunjung harian Anda.

Cara ini juga akan menghindari ‘accidental over-promotion‘ alias ‘promosi berlebihan yg tidak disengaja’. Bagaimana bisa? Silahkan coba dicari sendiri jawabannya, hehehe.

Letakkan adstrips di lokasi yg strategis

Sidebar adalah lokasi yg umum. Dan biasanya, pemasang iklan akan lebih tertarik pada adstrips yg diletakkan di bagian atas situs (2/3 bagian layar monitor). Layout situs yg menarik juga sedikit banyak akan membantu.

Multiple Adstrips = Multiple Income

Ya, mungkin ini agak aneh, tapi sejak saya memasang 2 buah adstrips di salah satu situs saya yg cukup rame, Top Sponsor dan Bottom Sponsor, jumlah iklan BlogAds yg masuk juga turut bertambah. Lebih aneh lagi, sebagian advertisers membeli iklan di KEDUA adstrips tersebut pada saat yg bersamaan.

Karena kurangnya research, belum banyak yg bisa saya sampaikan di poin ini. Tapi mungkin yg berikut ini bisa dijadikan patokan dalam memasang multiple adstrips:

Bedakan harga iklan sesuai dng posisi adstrips. Beri harga tinggi pada adstrips yg berada di lokasi atas.

Beri jarak yg cukup antara adstrips satu dengan adstrips lain. Contohnya, jika satu berada di paling atas, letakkan adstrips lainnya di paling bawah.

Don’t go cheap

Tips terakhir untuk meraih sukses di BlogAds adalah, jangan terkesan murahan dengan menawarkan spot iklan dng harga murah. Advertisers di BlogAds kebanyakan adalah perusahaan2 yg cukup bonafid dan punya nama (termasuk MSN, CNN, dan HowStuffWorks), dan mereka lebih memilih mengeluarkan dana pemasaran besar untuk hasil yg lebih terjamin. Penentuan harga iklan sedikit banyak akan menunjukkan kualitas situs Anda, jadi, pilihlah harga yg benar2 pantas.

Jika bingung, cara paling mudah adalah dengan melihat harga iklan yg ditawarkan oleh kompetitor Anda dan ambil nilai tengahnya. Atau bisa juga dng menawarkan biaya iklan yg sedikit-lebih-murah dibandingkan tawaran kompetitor.

Tentang PageRank

Banyak yang menanyakan kepada saya mengenai PageRank (PR) atau Ranking Halaman. Mulai dari penjelasannya hingga cara mendapatkannya. Selain itu, saya melihat banyak pula persepsi yang kurang tepat mengenai PageRank (termasuk dari salah satu buku tentang SEO berbahasa Indonesia yang saya baca!). Nah di sini saya tidak akan membahas secara detil dan teknis mengenai PageRank karena untuk masalah itu sudah dilakukan dengan baik oleh rekan saya dari SEO Indonesia (kok gak pernah updet lagi situsnya, bro?), tapi sebaliknya, saya akan coba jelaskan dengan singkat, ringkas, dan semoga, tepat sasaran :)

Apa Itu PageRank

PageRank adalah nilai atau ranking dari suatu halaman situs web yang diberikan oleh Google dalam skala 1-10. Nilai ini didapat melalui algoritma perhitungan tertentu yang didasari oleh jumlah dan kualitas dari backlink yang dimiliki oleh halaman situs web yang bersangkutan. Karena ada unsur “kualitas”, maka besarnya PageRank tidak selalu sebanding dengan jumlah tautan baliknya.

Bagi Google, PageRank dikembangkan untuk menggambarkan popularitas dan kualitas dari suatu situs web. Semakin besar nilai PR-nya, berarti diasumsikan bahwa situs tersebut semakin populer dan berkualitas baik.
